EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU women's hockey team pushed No. 7 Quinnipiac, a national championship contender, to the wire at the Northwell Health Ice Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Goaltender Abbie Thompson delivered a standout performance, stopping 38 shots in the Sharks' narrow 1-0 loss to the Wildcats.

Freshman defender Kristen Kiggen added four blocked shots, while Jeannie Waller won 10 faceoffs.

LIU will return to conference play this Friday and Saturday with a two game series at Franklin Pierce.
