Easton, MA —The Sharks are heating up. Having secured a 3-1 win over Stonehill on Saturday, LIU's women's volleyball team has now won three in a row, and improved to 3-3 against conference opponents.
Fresh off winning the Oct. 15 NEC Rookie of the Week award,
Bella Correia continued to display her prowess, this time with a season-high 15 kills in the win. She was one of four Sharks with at least 9 kills, leading
Camelia Melendez (13),
Sibana González (9), and
Cristal Paulino Rubel (9).
The aforementioned quartet headlined a total of ten Sharks who came up with four spikes apiece.
"Both great team wins, with solid offensive contributions all weekend, from
Camelia Melendez and
Bella Correia amongst others, plus our setter Selina Koc running the offense," head coach
Amable Martinez said following the successful weekend at Stonehill. "Defensively, both of our middles Cristal and Bria had good blocking numbers, and of course
Alasha Colon was cleaning everything up. Good to see our team starting to put positive matches together, as they have been putting the work in during practices. We look forward to continuing as we move to another action-filled week!"
The Sharks will play next on Wednesday, Oct. 23 against Manhattan at 6 p.m.
