EASTON, MASS.— The LIU men's basketball traveled to Stonehill Saturday afternoon for its second conference matchup of the season.
In the first half it was the
Eric Acker show as the freshman's 21 points gave the Sharks a five point lead at the break.
In the second half, Stonehill would just not go away. The Sharks and Skyhawks traded blows as the lead changed hands multiple times.
Tied at 65 with a little over two minutes to play, clutch baskets by
Tai Strickland and free throws by Ahmed Esshaty would seal the deal and give LIU its second NEC win, 73-68.
Acker led the team with 23 points while also recorded four assists and four rebounds.
Strickland recorded his third straight game with 20+ points, 13 of his 20 points came in the second half.
Essahaty scored a season-high 12 points.
R.J. Greene had a fantastic game, recording a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Sharks return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Sacred Heart.
