Men's Basketball Looks to Improve NEC Record at Sacred Heart

FAIRFIELD, Conn. —  The LIU men's basketball team traveled to Sacred Heart on Saturday afternoon, looking to improve to 3-0 in conference play.

The Sharks hung in early, leading for a bit until the Pioneers were able to regain it. From there Sacred Heart never lost it as turnovers and missed shot really hurt LIU. The Sharks would lose the game 89-55 and fall to 2-1 in NEC play.

Eric Acker and Tana Kopa led the team with 15 points a piece. Acker had a team-high six assists while also being second on the team with four rebounds.

R.J Greene led LIU in rebounds with five.

Ahmed Essahaty had a nice shooting day, scoring 10 points while going 4-7 from the floor.

The Sharks return to the court Friday when they travel to Saint Francis U at 7 p.m.
