ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — There was a Shark stunner on Saturday night when men's volleyball defeated No. 12 Lewis on the road.
LIU was in the driver's seat for most of the match, thwarting any Lewis attempt to stop the upset. After going up 2-0, the Sharks would drop a close third set but that did not affect their focus. Kills from
Arthur Sueur and
Livan Moreno along with some Lewis errors would give LIU a four-point cushion towards the end of the fourth set. Lewis just could not overcome that deficit and LIU got the job done, pulling off the upset in four sets (25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22).
Kale Spencer and
Livan Moreno were tied for the team lead in kills with 13. Spencer also tallied a team-high three service aces.
Gio Collazo recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs. He also added five blocks.
Arthur Sueur continued to be a wall in front of the net, tallying a team-high nine blocks.
Jack Sarnowski had his best game of the season, recording a season-high 43 assists while adding nine digs and four blocks.
The Sharks will return to the court on Wednesday night when they welcome Dominican to Brooklyn.
