BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Alasha Colon has been a force for the LIU women's volleyball team this season and is cementing herself as one of the best liberos in the entire country.
On Tuesday, Colon was named as the NEC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week and as an NEC Prime Performer.
Colon, a Carolina, P.R. native and Saint Francis Brooklyn transfer, put up a ridiculous statline for the week, tallying 83 digs over her three matches played.
In a match against highly touted Rice, Colon recorded 41 digs which broke the LIU school record for most digs in a match.
Colon leads LIU and the NEC with 254 digs, which currently puts her at fifth in all of Division I. She is second in Division I with 5.91 digs per set. By the time the season ends, Colon has a real chance to lead the entire country in both categories.
Rumur Rouille joined Colon as an NEC Prime Performer.
