LEWISBURG, Pa. — Emily Byrne led the way for the LIU women's golf team during a solid showing for the LIU women's golf team at the season-opening Bucknell Invitational this weekend.
Byrne shot a 76-73-79-228 at the Bucknell Golf Club to finish tied for 13th among the 61 golfers.
Vera Arrébola Granes finished in a tie for 25th, shooting a 77-81-76-234.
Overall, the Sharks finished sixth of 11 teams at 105-over-par, and ahead of the other two NEC programs at the event, Saint Francis U (+131) and Stonehill (+149).
Freshmen
Simran Singh (81-78-83-242) and
Lathika Krishna (78-81-85-244) both made their collegiate debuts at the invitational.
The Sharks next compete at the Delaware State Invitational at the Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del., Sept. 18-19.
"This weekend was a really good start to the season," coach Lily Bartell said. "We look forward to improving moving forward. I'm very proud of some strong finishes and highlights and plan to use this momentum into Delaware State's tournament."
