EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Coming off a season in which the LIU men's hockey team produced a program record for wins and earned its first-ever victories against ranked opponents, head coach Brett Riley has added six veterans to a strong returning roster.

Grayson Constable (Holy Cross), Rico DiMatteo (Northern Michigan), Aaron Grounds (American International), Peter Muzyka (Cornell), Remy Parker (Utica/Maine) and Adam Pitters (Bowling Green) all have joined the Sharks for 2023-24 as transfers.

"We could not be more excited to welcome this group of transfer student-athletes into our program," Riley said. "This group will bring great experience, leadership and — most importantly — character to our program."

Constable, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward from Lethbridge, Alberta, earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Holy Cross this spring. He appeared in 119 career games with the Crusaders, tallying 14 goals and 12 assists. Constable captained the team as a senior this past season. He follows the same route from Holy Cross to LIU as a grad transfer that Anthony Vincent did a year ago en route to signing an AHL contract with the San Jose Barracuda.

DiMatteo, a 6-3, 170-pound goaltender from Brasher Falls, N.Y., appeared in 38 games with Northern Michigan from 2020-21 through this past season. He produced a 20-15-2 record, 3.25 GAA, .896 save percentage, one shutout and two assists. DiMatteo went 6-2-1 with a 2.09 GAA and .916 save percentage in 10 games with the NAHL's Lone Star Brahmas in 2020-21.

Grounds, a 6-2, 190-pound forward from Jamestown, N.D., appeared in 63 games with American International from 2020-21 through '22-23. He produced 10 goals and eight assists with a plus-10 rating. Grounds was selected to the Atlantic Hockey All-Rookie East Pod team as a freshman.

Muzyka, a 6-3, 205-pound defenseman from Toronto, appeared in six games with Cornell during the 2021-22 season. He earned a bachelor's degree in communications from the Ivy League school. Muzyka played junior hockey with the NAHL's New Mexico Ice Wolves (2020-21), BCHL's Penticton Vees (2019-19) and OJHL's North York Rangers (2016-17, '17-18).

Parker, a 6-3, 184-pound forward from Montclair, N.J., graduated from Utica this spring with a bachelor's degree in communication and sports PR concentration. He appeared in a combined 46 games during the 2021-22 and '22-23 seasons with the school, tallying 28 goals and 17 assists and producing a plus-32 rating. Parker set the program's single-season goals record with 23 this past season. An ACHA All-American and first-team all-conference selection as a senior, he previously spent two seasons with Maine. Parker won a gold medal at the 2022 Maccabiah Games while producing nine goals and four assists in five games.

Pitters, a 5-10, 180-pound forward from Grosse Pointe, Mich., graduated from Bowling Green with a bachelor's degree in business this spring. He appeared in 102 career games with the Falcons over four seasons, tallying six goals and 17 assists. A two-time CCHA All-Academic selection, he earned the team's Bill & Helen Lloyd Most Improved Player Award in 2021-22. He also was selected a WCHA Scholar-Athlete and to the WCHA All-Academic team the previous season.

Riley previously announced his freshman class of signees.

"These young will be very positive additions and will help our program continue to build as we had into our fourth season of Division I hockey," Riley said. "We are very excited to welcome them and to get the team back on campus."
