BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU softball team began its series with Central Connecticut State in emphatic fashion on Sunday.
The Sharks defeated the Blue Devils, 9-0, in five innings as
Lindsey Cowans recorded the shutout and
Mari Narvaiz drove in five runs.
Narvaiz, a freshman from Albuquerque, N.M., homered twice and doubled while going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a career-high five RBIs.
The Sharks improved to 18-16 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
The teams complete the series with a doubleheader on Monday beginning at 1 p.m. at the LIU Softball Complex.
