BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — A trio of LIU gymnasts are headed to California for the 2023 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships.
Syd Morris (all-around),
Ilka Juk (beam) and
Mara Titarsolej (bars) were selected on Monday to compete in the UCLA-hosted Los Angeles Regional at Pauley Pavilion on March 29.
Morris broke the LIU all-around record three times this season. In addition, the freshman won EAGL Rookie of the Week honors for four consecutive weeks and is tied for the highest all-around score in the EAGL this season with a 39.550. The Landenberg, Pa., native is tied with Titarsolej for the highest bars score for the Sharks with a 9.950.
Juk was an All-EAGL beam first-team selection this season. She also earned All-EAGL Scholastic Team.
Titarsolej has been a consistent force for the Sharks for the past two seasons. The junior had a high score of 9.950 on bars and a 9.875 on beam in 2023. As a true event specialist in 2022, Titarsolej has since added back beam for 2023. The Zutphen, Netherlands, native was EAGL Specialist of the Week once in 2023.
