EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU men's hockey team found itself trailing by two goals in the opening minutes on Friday afternoon.
From there, the Sharks turned it on, scoring six straight goals en route to a 9-3 win against Stonehill on Friday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center.
The nine-goal outburst matched the program record, originally established earlier this season against Franklin Pierce.
Eight different Sharks scored for LIU:
Patriks Marcinkevics,
Cade Mason,
Nolan Welsh,
Josh Zary,
Austin Rook,
Jack Quinn.
Riley Wallack and
Adam Goodsir.
Wallack scored twice.
Marcinkevics' goal to get the Sharks on the scoreboard came 12 seconds after Stonehill had taken an early 2-0 lead on Carter Rapalje's second goal of the game.
LIU earned its 10th win of the season, matching the three-year-old program's record. The Sharks have now won a season-high four straight games.
LIU and Stonehill meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m. in East Meadow.
