BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Hannah Kenneally's game-winning overtime goal lifted LIU to a win in its home opener.
The Sharks knocked off Vermont 10-9 in the extra frame at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
LIU, which once held a 5-1 first quarter lead, found itself tied at 9 with seven minutes left in regulation.
Kenneally's overtime tally was her second goal of the game. The senior finished the game with a team-high five points.
"It was a big team win," said Kenneally, who has four goals this season. "We battled hard and all the girls stepped up."
Julia Trainor, Gina Toscano and Lluna Katz scored two goals apiece. Wednesday's win marked the Sharks' first home win of the season.
"We love playing here. We're excited to get back on the field Saturday for another big one against Manhattan," Kenneally said.
The Sharks return to action Saturday when they host Manhattan at 11 a.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
