FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The LIU men's hockey team jumped to a three-goal lead with scores from
Noah Kane,
Jack Quinn and
Riley Wallack.
However, host Alaska Fairbanks responded with six unanswered goals en route to a 6-3 win on Saturday night.
Wallack's power-play goal 4 minutes, 3 seconds into the second period had staked LIU to a 3-0 lead. The Nanooks produced four goals over the final 11:52 of the period, though, to take a lead into the second intermission.
The Sharks won one of four games from Alaska Fairbanks in the home-and-home series.
LIU returns to Northwell Health Ice Center for three games against Alaska Anchorage, beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. A Senior Day ceremony will precede the series opener.
