NORTH ANDOVER, M.A.— The LIU women's volleyball team returned to NEC play and took care of business when they traveled to Merrimack.
The Sharks swept the Warriors in three sets 25-18, 25-23, 25-14.
In all three sets LIU was locked to an early battle, but was able to pull away.
The team was led by
Camelia Melendez once again who tallied a team-leading 11 kills and 12 digs.
Amaris Smith and
Indira Benitez were tied for second on the team with eight kills a piece. Melendez recorded a .429 hitting percentage while Benitez had a .412.
Benitez led the Sharks with 3.5 blocks followed by
Cristal Paulino Rubel and
Bria Plante who each had 2.5.
Selina Koç was the assist leader once again with 21, bringing her season total to 677.
The Sharks return to the court on Saturday at 5 p.m. when they play another important NEC match against Stonehill.
