BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted Wagner on Saturday in their second home meet of the season. The Sharks had multiple impressive performances but ultimately both squads fell. The women by a score of 148-114 and the men by a score of 147-155.
Former NEC Swimmer of the Week
Giannis Venetos continued to swim well as he grabbed victories in the both the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.08) and 100-yard breatstroke (57.73). The Sharks swept the 100-yard breast with
Marcelo Chauvet (58.22) and
Stephen Taylor (58.53) finishing in second and third.
Dani Chocano Fernández was victorious in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:44.00 and also won the 200-yard IM with a 1:57.15.
Alejandro Pascual Del Cid dominated the field in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.60.
Mariajose Lopez Lizarraga showed her prowess in the 1,000-yard freestyle once again, winning the race with a time of 10:36.10. She was followed by
Anapaula Gomez Janeiro who had a time of 10:44.55.
Kia Moerk was a winner in the 100-yard backstroke with a 58.36.
Lara Wielkiewicz continues to be one of the top freshmen in the NEC as she was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:10.25. She was followed by
Itzy Gonzalez Rojas who finished with a 2:18.25.
Allie Bashor won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.30. She was followed by Wielkiewicz who finished with a 59.32
The Sharks return to the pool on Dec. 1 when they swim in the ECAC mid-season meet.
