NEW LONDON, CONN. — Josep Jodra Muñoz had himself an absolute day on Sunday as the LIU men's water polo team defeated Connecticut College 14-11 in its season finale.
Four straight goals from Jodra Muñoz would give the Sharks a lead at the end of the first quarter and it set the tone for the rest of the match.
Whenever the Camels looked to try and mount a comeback, Jodra Muñoz would just put another in the back of the net. He finished the match with 10 goals, shattering the record for goals in a single match by an LIU men's player. Jodra Muñoz shares the record with Elena Camarena, who scored 10 goals against La Salle on March 19, 2022.
Goalkeeper
Ethan Zirh also had a great game defensively. The Sydney, Australia native made 12 saves while also recorded five steals and adding two assists on offense. He ends his regular season with 380 saves on the year.
Riyad Shehadeh scored three goals, finishing the year as the LIU leading goal scorer with 80.
Gavin Garrett also put one in the back of the net.
The Sharks will return to the pool this weekend when they play in the NWPC Tournament.
