CAMBRIDGE, MASS.— The LIU men's water polo team traveled to Harvard to play in its first round matchup against No. 3 Brown.
The six seed Sharks played some good defense early on but the Bears jumped on them towards the end of the first quarter. LIU tried to mount a comeback but there was not enough time left on the clock and they fell 19-8.
Riyad Shehadeh, who led LIU this season with 83 goals, led the team with three goals.
Josep Jodra Muñoz kept pouring in the goals and added two more in this match.
Freshmen
Anthony Gauna and
Tony Franco added three goals, Gauna with two and Franco with one.
Ethan Zirh made six saves in the match.
The Sharks will return to the pool Saturday at 4 p.m. when they take on No. 7 seed Connecticut College in a consolation match.
