BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU women's volleyball team took care of business when Le Moyne came to town Friday for Senior Night.
Le Moyne jumped out to an early lead but the Sharks kept their composure and quickly gained back the lead. From there LIU never looked back as it took the match in three straight sets 25-13, 25-8, 25-13.
The Sharks tied the NEC season-high for service aces by a team in one match with 15.
Jordan MacDonald led the way with five, followed by
Camelia Melendez with four,
Allie Merz and
Sophie Young with two and
Amaris Smith and Sibana Gonzalez who each had one.
Smith led the team with nine kills followed by Melendez with seven and then seniors
Olivia Lucia and
Katie Berg who each had six.
Captain
Allie Merz had herself quite the senior day, leading the Sharks with 27 assists while also adding four digs and two kills.
Senior
Osahuese Algbedo made her season debut and recorded a kill.
The Sharks return to the court on Saturday when they take on Saint Francis U. at the Steinberg Wellness Center in their regular season finale.
