Women's Volleyball Ends Tough NEC Road Stretch Against FDU

TEANECK, N.J. The LIU women's volleyball team continued their run of tough conference road matchups when they traveled to FDU Saturday night.

The Sharks hung in tough all night, but ultimately fell in four sets 22-25, 18-25, 25-18, 21-25.

LIU was never out of the match, but just could not string together a consistent stretch of points to pull away. In the fourth and final set the Sharks were within one point, but the Knights pulled away and took the match.

NEC Player of the Week Camelia Melendez had another nice showing, leading LIU with 14 kills and adding nine digs. Amaris Smith was second in kills with 12.

Alasha Colon, who picked up her third Defensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday, added to her NEC leading digs total, tallying 24 more. Her season total now stands at 374.

Selina Koç led the Sharks with 29 assists and was second on the team with 15 digs.

Rumur Rouille played well once again, recording six blocks and seven kills.

The Sharks return to Brooklyn when they host Binghamton in the Steinberg Wellness Center on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
