LAWRENCE, N.Y. — The LIU women's golf team closed its fall schedule in style on Tuesday.
Emily Byrne topped teammate
Hailey Holbdy in a playoff hole for the individual title after they tied for first and LIU won the six-team Shark Invitational by 20 strokes at the Rockaway Hunting Club.
Byrne and Holbdy each shot 13-over 153s spanning two rounds to finish one stroke ahead of Siena's Jillian Barend.
Teammate
Vera Arrébola Granes finished eighth with a 21-over 161.
The Sharks (325-307-632) defeated runner-up Bryant (321-331-652) as well as Merrimack (329-336-665), Siena (335-333-668), Hofstra (335-345-680) and Le Moyne (346-360-706).
"What a great way to end the fall," coach Lily Bartell said. "I'm so proud of this team, the work they have put in and the way they push themselves toward success. It's so impressive to be part of."
LIU now heads into a break from competition. The Sharks resume tourney action at the South Carolina Beaufort-hosted Oldfield Intercollegiate from Feb. 26-27 in Okatie, S.C.
