LIU defeated the host Skyhawks, 4-2, on Monday night.
Josh Zary's goal late in the second period broke a 2-all tie.
Aaron Grounds then scored midway through the third period to provide a two-goal cushion.
Remy Parker tallied produced LIU's first two goals.
LIU outshot Stonehill, 38-10.
The Sharks return to action Sunday when they host Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
