ORONO, Maine — The LIU football team started with some fireworks, getting a 73-yard touchdown completion from
Ethan Greenwood to
Michael Love only 73 seconds into Saturday's nonconference game.
However, Maine took the lead for good in the third quarter en route to a 24-13 win against the Sharks at Harold Alfond Sports Stadium.
Greenwood completed 13 of 20 passes for 193 yards and the one TD. He also rushed for 69 yards.
LIU held a 10-7 lead at halftime thanks to
Michael Coney's 30-yard field goal in the second quarter, but Maine answered with a third-quarter touchdown and maintained the lead the rest of the way.
The Sharks (1-1 NEC) step back into conference action next Saturday when they host Merrimack at noon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
