BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU women's fencing picked up three wins, including one against Ivy League competition, on Sunday at the Tri-State Shark Showcase.
The Sharks defeated Hunter, 25-2, St. John's, 14-13, and Yale, 14-13.
The first dual was dominated by the foil team of Ana Szantay,
Daniela Perez Leal and
Khrystyna Sarkisian. The group swept Hunter, 9-0.
LIU narrowly edged the Red Storm, thanks to wins in saber and epee.
Laura Fekete,
Costanza Greggi and
Sarah Ellis led the unit in epee.
In their win against Yale, a 7-2 win in saber was critical in the victory.
Lu Pekelman, Chejsa Kal-Seck and Neveah Ulibarri were able to take control and win the set for the Sharks.
With today's results, the team improved to 20-11. LIU returns to action at the UNC Invitational on February 12 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
