BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU men's volleyball became the first team this season to take a set vs. No. 11 Loyola Chicago.
With the opening set tied at 24,
Gustavo Cavalcanti notched a kill to retake the lead and followed that with a service ace to win the first.
Ultimately, the Sharks fell in four sets, 26-24, 21-25, 20-25, 20-25 and moved to 3-3 overall.
Luke Chandler led the team with 17 kills on 40 swings.
Livan Moreno and Cavalcanti each finished with 11.
Gio Collazo had six digs and three assists, and Cavalcanti and
Kasey Clouet each had five digs.
Through six games, the Sharks have faced two teams in the top-15 in the AVCA.
LIU returns to action at Lindenwood on Feb. 3 at 7 p.m.
