STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Emily Ginty took her speed to another level for LIU women's track and field.
Ginty, a junior from Smithtown, N.Y., took first by eight seconds (18:19.51) in the 5000m run at the Gotham Cup.
She dropped 33 seconds from her previous best to set a new personal record.
There was plenty of success to go around the Sharks roster on Friday afternoon.
Camille Watson and
London Claxton finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400m dash.
Among other top finishes included
Anja Olsson in the long jump. She placed seventh with a mark of 5.18m.
Sade Panton continued a strong start to her 2022-23 campaign and placed sixth (11.43m) in shot put. Moments later, she notched fourth (14.16m) in the weighted throw.
Faith Shaw (13.70m) came in sixth in the weighted throw.
LIU returns to action next tomorrow at the Villanova Invitaitonal.
