NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — The opening weekend of Northeast Conference play included a dramatic comeback victory for the LIU women's volleyball team.
Trailing by two sets, the Sharks rallied to defeat host Central Connecticut State, 17-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15, 15-9.
Central Connecticut had been one point from closing out the match in the third set, but
Anastasia Scott's kill evened the score at 24. LIU then earned the set with consecutive attack errors by the Blue Devils.
Barbora Hošková had 20 kills, while
Sophie Young had 54 assists and Scott had 30 digs.
LIU (6-8 overall) evened its record at 1-1 in NEC play.
The Sharks next host St. Francis Brooklyn next Friday at 6 p.m. at Steinberg Wellness Center.
