Baseball Travels to Sacred Heart

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Four days after a three-game set against Merrimack, LIU baseball hit the road again.

The Sharks fell to the Pioneers, 12-3, Friday afternoon. LIU led 2-1 after the top of the sixth, but Sacred Heart rattled off 12 runs, including seven in the eighth, to claim game one.

The lead came from EJ Esposito hitting a two-run home run, his team leading seventh of the season.

Colin Adams cut into the lead with an RBI single in the lead in the eighth, the only other Shark to drive in a run.

Michael Edelman and Exposito each had two hits to pace the offense. Adams, Christopher Wasson, Carlton Harper, and Bentley Boekhout each collected one hit.

Joshua Loeschorn started and threw seven innings, giving up four earned runs and striking out five, earning his second loss of the season. Jack VanDoran threw two thirds of an inning without allowing a hit or run.

The Sharks will face the Pioneers in game two of the series tomorrow, April 30, at 1 p.m.
