SHARKS WIN! Women's Lacrosse Triumphs over CCSU, 14-7

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – The LIU women's lacrosse team has now won two games in a row after defeating Central Connecticut State, 14-7, on Wednesday afternoon. Overall, the Sharks are now 4-11 and 3-3 in Northeast Conference play, making a late season push as the regular season wraps up in two weeks.

It was another strong day for Whitney Moran coming off a five-goal day on Saturday as she scored two goals and tallied an assist. Olivia Fantigrossi scored two goals, as well, to pace the offense.

The Blue Devils scored the first goal of the game to open an early 1-0 lead, but after that, LIU scored three straight and did not relinquish the lead the rest of the day. After CCSU brought the game within one towards the end of the first, the Sharks rattled off a 6-0 that spanned almost two whole quarters.

LIU had season high marks for goals and assists in a victory, and the defense held the Blue Devils to just seven goals. Additionally, the Sharks piled up 30 shots on goal, which is also the highest mark in a game of 2022. Hailey Duchnowski earned her fourth win in cage, collecting seven saves.

The Sharks return home for the final two games of the regular season. They will face Merrimack on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
