Women’s Lacrosse Faces Off Against Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The LIU women's lacrosse team traveled to Bryant on Saturday to take on the Bulldogs and ended up falling 17-6 to the hosts.

  • Bryant put themselves on the board first, grabbing two goals in the opening period. LIU's Amanda Masullo, though, took one back with less than a minute left to have the Sharks trailing 2-1 at the end of the period.
  • The second period started off back-and forth, with the Bulldogs scoring two and then the Sharks adding two of their own to the tally, both goals coming from Rachel Weber. Bryant then went on to net four more though and led 8-3 at halftime.
  • All three goals in the first half for the Sharks were assisted by Francesca Vasile-Cozzo.
  • LIU scored the first goal of the second half thanks to a solo effort from Hannah Kenneally. Bryant took two more back to lead 10-4.
  • Olivia Fantigrossi slipped one past the Bryant keeper in the third, but the Bulldogs then went on a three-goal run to lead 13-5.
  • Weber would score the final goal for of the match for the Sharks with another assist credited to Vasile-Cozzo.
  • Bryant would add one more in the third and then three more in the fourth to settle the score 17-6 for the game.
  • Next up, the Sharks are back home versus Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m.
