LONG BEACH, Calif. – The LIU men's volleyball team played their second top five ranked opponent in two days when they took on No. 2 Long Beach State on Saturday night, falling 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-15) to the 49ers.
 
SHARK BITES

• The Sharks and the 49ers began the match with a closely contested first set that saw six early ties. However, once the match was tied 11-11, Long Beach State grabbed five straight points and took control of the set from there, winning 25-18.
• The second set was when the 49ers hit their stride, when they got 13 kills on 20 errorless swings and quickly took a 25-14 second set to lead the match 2-0 over LIU.
• The third set was much the same, with Long Beach State taking a commanding lead and grabbing the 25-15 set win and 3-0 match win over the Sharks
• Junior outside Caden Satterfield led for LIU with nine kills, nabbing an ace as well. Freshman opposite Luke Chandler had eight kills.
• Freshman setter Luca Holanda added 18 assists
• The Sharks finish out their California trip by playing the University of Saint Katherine on Sunday, March 6 at 5 p.m. EST.
