SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The LIU men's volleyball team headed to California to take on the fifth ranked University of California, Santa Barbara on Friday night and ended up falling 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-13) to the Gauchos.
 
SHARK BITES

• The Sharks were held to 13 in the first set, but caused the hosts some issues in the second set when they took the early lead and then hung close, jostling for the lead until it was 19-19, but the Gauchos pulled off the 25-22 win to lead the match 2-0.
• Another efficient set for UC Santa Barbara had the Gauchos winning the set and taking the match 3-0.
• Freshman opposite hitter Luke Chandler led the Sharks offensively with eight kills for the match.
• Freshman setter Luca Holanda played all three matches and had 20 assists.
• Up next for the Sharks, they are playing No. 2 Long Beach State University on Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 pm EST.
