Box Score NORTH HAVEN, CONN. – The LIU women's tennis team swept Quinnipiac on the road, 4-0, on Sunday. LIU moves to 10-3 on the year and increases their current win streak to six.
"It was a very solid performance this evening," said head coach
Jan Griga. "We had a significant delay getting home from Orlando last night and then had to quickly adjust back to indoor play on top of that. The team really did a great job overcoming these obstacles."
Shark Bites:
- LIU claimed the doubles point with wins on courts three and one to take the early 1-0 match lead.
- Moving to singles play, on court four, Elinor Storkaas nabbed the first singles win for the Sharks, not dropping a single game to opponent Madison Williams, downing her 6-0, 6-0.
- On court one, Sofiya Kuzina routed Kamilla Nella 6-0, 6-1 to push LIU ahead 3-0.
- The clinch came down to Valentina Dancenco, who took down her opponent 7-5, 6-4 to secured the 4-0 shut-out win for the Sharks. Sealing their sixth straight victory.
- LIU will be back in action on Saturday, March 19, facing off against Mount St. Mary's in their second match of NEC play.
