OKATIE, S.C. – The LIU women's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the 2022 season, finishing third overall at the Monument Golf Oldfield Intercollegiate Tournament hosted by USC Beaufort. Senior
Julia Towne was honored at the conclusion of the tournament, finishing third overall individually.
The Sharks finished with a team score of 941, finishing behind Eastern Florida State and SCAD - Savannah, out of the eight teams in attendance.
There were multiple finishes inside the top-10 for LIU, led by Towne who finished third with a score of 222. Towne shot a 70 on day two, helping her to solidify the high final placement. Right behind her was
Vera Arrébola Granes, shooting a 76 on both day one and two. Finishing in a three-way tie for ninth was
Ashlee Garrett, who shot a 74 on round three.
As a team, LIU finished third in par threes and pars, fourth in par fours and birdies, and fifth in par fives.
The Sharks will travel to Daytona, Fla. to take on Sacred Heart in a two-day match beginning on Friday, March 11.
