STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The LIU men's swimming team started the 2022 calendar year on the right foot, beating Wagner 128-101 in their first dual meet since December. The Sharks had multiple first place finishes int the meet, and swept the top three spots in several events.
 
SHARK BITES

• LIU started out with a win in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Trajan Houston, Stephen Taylor, Lovro Dodik and Porter LeVasseur won with a time of 1:35.95.
• Sophomore Lincoln Greseth won the 1000 free in 10:02.00, while Alejandro Pascual Del Cid won the 50 free in 21.55.
• The Sharks went 1-2-3 in the 100 back, as Daniel Chocano Fernández won the event (53.21), just ahead of teammates Houston (53.44) and Bruno Ferrari (54.44).
• Giannis Venetos and Taylor went 1-2 in the 100 breast. Venetos won the event with a time of 58.39, while Taylor touched the wall in 59.79. The duo also went 1-2 in the 200 breast, in 2:09.94 for Venetos for first, and 2:12.12 for Taylor in second.
• Dodik won the 500 free with a time of 5:02.05, while teammate Jose Alfonzo came in second with a time of 5:07.93.
• The Sharks also swept the 100 fly. Ethan Law (1st – 51.86), Ferrari (2nnd – 53.49) and Benny Karlsson (3rd – 54.75) took the top three spots.
• Marcell Matyiko exhibitioned in the 200 IM, but swam the fastest time by four seconds, with a 1:59.54.
• The Sharks capped the night with an exhibition win in the 200 free relay, as Daniel Samouilich, Marcelo Cahuvet, Drew Ladner and Pascual Del Cid swam a 1:27.55.
