READING, Penn. – The LIU men's volleyball team took home another win on Thursday night when they beat the Golden Wolves of Alvernia University 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20).
The Sharks were led offensively by sophomore middle
Hasan Hadžic, who had 10 kills, one assist, and one ace. Hadžic also helped out defensively and had seven digs and one block.
SHARK BITES
- The Sharks took a close first set 25-23 to lead the match 1-0, but the Golden Wolves came back and took the second 25-20 to even the score at one all.
- The third set had LIU jumping out to an 8-2 lead over Alvernia, thanks to strong serving from sophomore middle Eddy Alexandre. The Golden Wolves fought back but not enough to claim the set and the Sharks took it 25-23 to go up 2-1 for the match.
- In the fourth set, LIU was able to maintain a comfortable lead over their hosts throughout and in the end won 25-20 to seal the 3-1 victory.
- Alexandre had four service aces for the evening, three of which came in a row in the third set. He also had four blocks and two kills.
- Junior Caden Satterfield was able to switch back and forth between offense and defense getting eight kills along with five blocks and nine digs.
- Fellow junior Jordan Cooper had nine kills, two service aces, two blocks, and six digs for the evening.
- Freshman setter Luca Holanda capped the night with 30 assists and five digs.
- Up next, the Sharks are taking on NJIT on the road in Newark on Friday, February 4 at 6 p.m.
