Women's Lacrosse Hosts Monmouth

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU women's lacrosse team hosted Monmouth on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Hawks, 12-11. Isabelle Peng led the offense with three goals on the day, which is a new career-high mark.
 
SHARK BITES
  • Jen Gaffney fired in the Sharks first goal off an Amanda Masullo assist at the 7:36 mark in the first. Peng found the back of the net moments later to tie the game at two apiece. It was 3-2 heading to the second.
  • Five minutes into the frame, Masullo earned her second assist when Rachel Weber scored to tie the game at 3-3.
  • Whitney Moran led a three-goal run in the second, followed by goals from Whitney Moran and weber to give the Sharks the lead at 6-4 heading into halftime.
  • Monmouth scored four in the third quarter, and Moran and Peng scored on man-up opportunities to extend the lead to 8-5.
  • The Hawks scored three goals to take the lead when Masullo connected on her second goal of the game to bring the score to 11-9. 
  • The Sharks would push across two more goals in the latter stages of the fourth from Peng and Hannah Keneally, her first of the season, to bring the final score to 12-11. 
  • Hailey Duchnowski finished the contest with 17 saves, her season high.
  • Up next, the Sharks will travel to Marist College to face the Red Foxes on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m.
