BURLINGTON, Vt. – The LIU women's ice hockey team took on Saint Michael's College on the road and earned another big NEWHA win on Tuesday, taking down the Purple Knights, 5-1. With the win, LIU improves to 15-14-3 and 13-3-2 in the NEWHA. Jeannie Wallner helped lift the Sharks to the win with one goal and two assists.
 
SHARK BITES

• LIU scored once in the first, twice in the second, and twice again in the third on their way to the win. Grace Dima got the scoring started for the Sharks with assists from Wallner and Maggie Culp.
• Just under a minute into the second, Alva Johnsson made it 2-0 with assists from Megan Bouveur and Sarah Rourke. Midway through the period was when Wallner would get her goal thanks to assists from Carrigan Umpherville and Maggie Korneta.
• It was eleven minutes into the second period when the Purple Knights got their sole goal of the game to put the score at 3-1.
• It only took two minutes into the third period before the Sharks struck again when Stella Scott had a solo goal, slipping the puck just inside the left post. Wallner earned her second assist when she and Johnsson passed Korneta the puck and she let it fly into the upper right corner of the goal to give LIU the 5-1 victory.
• Up next, the Sharks are will take on their final opponent of the regular season and face off against Post University at home on Friday, February 25 at 3 p.m.
