NEWARK, Del. – The LIU women's tennis team fell to the University of Delaware on the road Sunday, 7-0.

"It was a tough match today," head coach Jan Griga said. "We were really close to getting the doubles point, but in the end it didn't go our way. I think we allowed that to take the wind out of our sails a little bit, and had somewhat of a slow start in singles as a result. Credit to the team for digging in and fighting back across the board, but the opponents just proved a bit too strong. We are looking to come back strong against UConn this weekend."
 
SHARK BITES

• The Sharks picked up their lone win of the day on the doubles court, where Valentina Dancenco and Sofiya Kuzina took down Eliza Askarova and Julieta Honrubia in the No. 1 spot, 6-3. 
• The Blue Hens won the doubles point with wins at 2 and 3, and Delaware picked up all six points on the singles court.
• Victoria Erechtchenko and Kate Jorjoliani each pushed their opponents to the brink during the second set in their respective matches, but both would fall 7-5.
• The Sharks will be back in action on Friday, February 25^th, when they take the court against UConn.
