BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU men's volleyball team took on D'Youville University at home on Friday night in the Steinberg Wellness center taking down the Saints 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-16).
Juniors
Caden Satterfield and
Jordan Cooper led the Sharks offensively with eight and seven kills respectively. Satterfield hit .357 and Cooper hit .642 on the night. Collectively the Sharks hit .429 for the match.
SHARK BITES
- Set one was evenly paced with the Sharks gaining and keeping the lead at 10-9, but with the Saints only trailing behind by no more than three points for the remainder of the set. LIU claimed the set 25-22 to go up 1-0.
- In the second set, the Sharks jumped out to an early lead at 6-2. An ace from Cooper put LIU up 15-8 and forced a D'Youville timeout. The Sharks continued to surge ahead and took set two 25-14 to lead the match 2-0.
- The Sharks continued to push and with two Satterfield aces in a row they led 11-5, before taking the set 25-16 and winning in their first match back in the Steinberg Center after being on the road for a month.
- Freshman setter Luca Holanda had 28 assists for the match.
- Up next, the Sharks are at home on Tuesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. against St. Francis Brooklyn.
