BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU women's basketball team took on Saint Francis U. Thursday in the Steinberg Wellness Center, in the team's annual Play4Kay game, beating the Red Flash in OT, 69-62.

Brandy Thomas and redshirt junior
Kennedy Taylor paced the Sharks for the evening. Thomas had 19 points and five rebounds, while Taylor had 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
SHARK BITES
- LIU opened the scoring in the first when senior Aislinn Flynn hit a jumper off an Emaia O'Brien assist. The back-and-forth quarter was evenly paced between the sides, but the Sharks took a 16-15 lead into the second.
- The Red Flash took a slight advantage over the Sharks by scoring 12 from the paint and headed into halftime with a 30-27 lead over LIU.
- SFU pulled ahead 44-38 in the third, but a 7-0 run in the last 1:15 of the quarter led by Thomas and Camille Gray put the Sharks up, 45-44, heading into the fourth.
- The ball game was tied 54-54 with 1:09 left to play. The Sharks went up 59-56, but a clutch three pointer from SFU with 1.9 seconds left tied it all up at 59, and sent the game to overtime.
- LIU scored 10 points, while holding the Red Flash to just three in overtime, to win 69-62.
- O'Brien scored 13 points for the Sharks.
- Up next, it's senior night for the Sharks as they play their final home game of the season against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, February 19 at 2 p.m.
