BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU women's volleyball is heating up as the regular season wraps up. And tonight's win came with an added bonus.
The Sharks swept Stonehill, 25-11, 25-20 and 25- on Friday night to improve to 13-12 overall with a gaudy 7-2 mark at home.
With the victory, LIU clinched a spot in the Northeast Conference tournament.
The result marks consecutive matches in which LIU has swept its opponent.
Entering the evening, two defensive leaders,
Rumur Rouille and
Anastasia Scott, ranked among the top players in the NCAA in blocks and digs per set.
Rouille blocked three shots while Scott collected 12 digs.
The Sharks defense held the Skyhawks to a .175 hitting percentage. On the offensive side, LIU hit .322, its third-highest mark in a match this year.
LIU returns to action for the regular season finale and senior day on Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. vs. Merrimack.
