MADISON, Wisc. — The LIU men's hockey team continues to put scares into top-tier opponents.
Anthony Vincent scored a pair of goals, but the Sharks fell to host Wisconsin, 3-2, on Friday night in the opener of back-to-back games at the Kohl Center.
Vincent's two goals, which came 7 minutes, 25 seconds apart in the second period, lifted LIU out of a two-goal deficit.
However, the Badgers answered with a goal from Cruz Lucius at 13:32 of the third period to break the 2-all tie.
Vincent took sole possession of the team goals lead with five for the season.
Goaltender
Vinnie Purpura, who had been forced to leave last Saturday's game against Omaha in the third period due to an injury, returned to the net and made 27 saves. He departed for an extra skater with 96 seconds remaining, although he returned in the final seconds after the Sharks picked up a hooking penalty.
The teams play the second of their back-to-back games on Saturday at 8 p.m.
