Saki Oyama Selected NEC Women's Tennis Player of Month

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Saki Oyama qualified for ITA Super Regionals with doubles partner Victoria Erechtchenko last weekend. She also won three singles matches at the ITA Regionals at Princeton.

And on Wednesday, Oyama was named the first Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Month for the 2022-23 academic year.

Oyama and Erechchenko defeated Shivani Ingle and Joleta Budiman from NJIT, 8-4, in a quarterfinal match at the ITA Regionals on Sunday to advance to the upcoming Super Regionals.

Oyama, a junior from Osaka, Japan, transferred to LIU from North Texas.

She also had a three-set victory against Fairleigh Dickinson's Alena Kubanova at the Penn Invitational to open the season.

Teammate Bianca Compuesto and Oyama also were named NEC Prime Performers for the month.
