YAPHANK, N.Y. — The LIU equestrian team had a successful day as it opened its 2022-23 season on Sunday at the IHSA Show hosted by St. Joseph's University.
The Sharks finished as the high-point team of the day.
The event began with
Anna Perlow taking first in her open over fences classes.
Sam Koeppel won her intermediate over fences classes, with Annabella Dinter Wyman close behind in second and
Paige Mather in third.
In the limit fences division,
Shelby McKie and
Megan Rodier took first.
In the flat phases,
Samantha Beck took first in her open section.
In the intermediate,
Gretchen Persan and
Peyton LaFrenz took the victory, with Perlow right behind in second and Koeppel in third.
In the limit section,
Julia Bonvino,
Sophia Mirando and
Shelby McKie all took first.
Sarah Stayton and
Ally Perticone were victorious in their sections of novice, with
Erin Gutzeit coming in second in her section.
To end the day,
Nicole Kravets and
Kendra Moore won their introductory sections, securing the victory for the Sharks.
The Sharks return to competition next weekend at the Stony Brook University Show, which will be held at Olde Towne Equestrian Center in Selden.
