EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Adam Goodsir had a second-period power-play goal to pull the LIU men's ice hockey team within a goal on Saturday night. However, Omaha answered with five straight goals and defeated the Sharks, 7-1, at Northwell Health Ice Center.
The Mavericks swept the back-to-back games.
LIU goaltender
Vinnie Purpura was forced to depart with 15 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in the third period due to injury.
Brandon Perrone replaced him in his season debut and made a late highlight-reel save to deprive Jack Randl of a would-be hat trick.
The Sharks (1-6-1) return to action Nov. 11 and 12 at Wisconsin.
"We've played one of the hardest schedules in college hockey," coach
Brett Riley said. "It's going to make us better if we stick with it. There are a lot of guys in there who believe that. That was a better series this year with them than it was last year. And that's progress. It's not a win by any means, but it's a step in the right direction."
