Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey | | Adam Rubin

In East Lansing, Men's Hockey Continues to Tightly Contest Games vs. Top Teams

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Isaiah Fox's first goal of the season sent the teams into the first intermission tied on Friday night at Munn Ice Arena.

However, the LIU men's ice hockey team ultimately fell to Michigan State, 3-1, in the opener of back-to-back meetings between the teams.

The Spartans received second-period goals from David Gucciardi and Karsen Dorwart that proved the difference.

Adam Goodsir started in his return to East Lansing as a visitor after playing as an undergrad with the Spartans.

Goaltender Vinnie Purpura made 27 saves.

The Sharks (1-3-1) continued to play tight games against top-tier teams. LIU tied then-No. 7 Quinnipiac and took then-No. 9 Northeastern to overtime earlier this young season.

LIU and Michigan State face off again on Saturday at 6 p.m.
