WORCESTER, Mass. — The LIU field hockey team suffered a heartbreaker on Sunday.

The Sharks conceded the game's lone goal with five seconds remaining in double-overtime and fell, 1-0, at Holy Cross in a nonconference matchup.

Goalie Maggie Streichert made six saves in the defeat.

Saarah Olton and Felicia King combined for nine shots on goal for LIU, but Brooke Ross produced the shutout.

LIU (6-9, 3-1 NEC) steps back into conference play on Friday when it hosts Rider at 3 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
