BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The win streak for LIU women's volleyball has grown to five.
The Sharks took down Saint Francis U. on Friday night in four sets, 25-22, 19-25, 25-20 and 26-24.
In set one, the Sharks narrowly edged the Red Flash before dropping set two.
Set three went down to the wire with
Karolina Nova registering a kill to regain the lead, 2-1.
Filled with fireworks, the fourth set went back and forth before the Sharks defense took over with three blocks in crucial points late in the clinching set.
After trailing 23-21, the Sharks rattled off four straight points, including a block from
Celine Mukura that led to set point.
In heroic fashion,
Karolina Nova notched a service ace to win the match.
LIU moves to 10-8 overall and now sits at 5-1 against Northeast Conference opponents, which is tied for first with Sacred Heart.
The Sharks have a quick turnaround, welcoming FDU to Brooklyn on Saturday at 5 p.m.
