However, the LIU women's ice hockey team was edged by host Maine, 4-3, on Friday.
 
Tindra Holm, returning to action after her 15-game start streak was snapped last weekend at Sacred Heart in the NEWHA opener, made 43 saves.

The Sharks (1-5) pulled Holm following a timeout with 47.0 seconds remaining, but couldn't get the equalizer.

LIU had pulled within 4-2 on the rapid-fire scores from Sarah Rourke and Megan Bouveur 63 seconds apart midway through the second period.

Bouveur, who produced a team-high 16 goals in 2021-22, and Rourke both got in the goal column for the first time this season.

The teams meet for the second straight day on Saturday at noon at Harold Alfond Sports Arena.
