SHARKS WIN! Jerry’s Four Goals Lift Men’s Hockey over Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – LIU men's ice hockey senior captain Billy Jerry scored all four of LIU's goals on the road Sunday at Brown, single-handedly lifting the Sharks to a 4-3 victory over the Bears. The captain kept it exciting, scoring the game-winning goal with 11.1 seconds left in the third period.
 
With the win, LIU is 7-14-3 on the season.

  • Jerry nearly doubled his goal total for the season in one night, scoring his first hat trick of the season with a goal in the first and two goals in the second. Brown would tie it up with 11 minutes to play, 3-3, before Jerry hit home a mid-range power play slap shot goal for the game winner at 19:49.
  • The first goal of the day came in the first period, when Jerry scored a power-play goal, with assists from Spencer Cox and Carson Musser. Brown scored two power play goals to start the second period and take the lead.
  • Jerry would score his next two goals in the span of 72 seconds, with a power play goal (and apples for Nolan Welsh and Jake Stevens), followed by ana even strength goal just over a minute later. Jordan DiCicco and Carter Ekberg had helps on the third goal.
  • Brown closed the gap 30 seconds later with a goal to cut it to 3-2.
  • Despite multiple opportunities in the third period, including a 5-on-3, the Bears didn't score until the final 10 minutes of the game. The home team finally got one past Vincent Purpura to tie it up, 3-3.
  • Purpura had 24 saves on the night in the win, his third in net this season.
  • The Sharks made it happen in the final seconds of the game. LIU had a power play, and Tyler Welsh found Jerry, who slapped it home for the game-winner with 11.1 seconds to play.
